Villa Romana

Views on Figura and Nature

Kunststiftung Hohenkarpfen

29.3. – 12.7.2026

The exhibition “Villa Romana – Perspectives on the Figure and Nature” follows on from the fall exhibition of 2023 (“Memories of Beauty”). At that time, she curated an exhibition featuring artists from southern Germany who were recipients of scholarships at the Villa Massimo in Rome. The “Künstlerhaus” in Florence—founded as early as 1905 by artists and patrons—known as the “Villa Romana,” housed in a Neo-Renaissance-style building with a spacious grounds, remains an important institution in the German art scene. A fellowship, typically lasting ten months, is awarded—along with generous financial support—to artists who have already demonstrated talent but are generally still young. It is a great honor. Some Villa Romana fellows were later appointed to professorships at German academies and art colleges; some also received a fellowship at the Villa Massimo or an invitation to exhibit at Documenta.
